TA Howard Middle School Points of Pride Page
We are doing some amazing things here at TA Howard. This page will highlight those accomplishments.
2016 - 2017 School Year
TA Howard Band
We are so proud of our TA Howard Honor Band. An organization called the “Foundation For Music Education” holds a recorded music contest for high school and middle school bands across the nation, called the “National Wind Band Honors” awards; the highest title being the “National Winners.” Only a handful of middle school bands in the entire NATION are selected and TA Howard's Honor Band has been so fortunate to be selected 7 times. TA Howard Band Directors are Nathaniel Neugent and Victoria Hitz. Congratulations on being in the top 10% of Middle School bands in the Nation!!!
TAH Girls Volleyball
The TA Howard Girls Volleyball teams put in the work and came out with the win! All 5 of our teams won their first Home game of the season. You all rock! We are so proud of your efforts. Keep showing that Knight Pride!
The 7th Grade Girls A team was named DISTRICT CHAMPIONS after defeating Danny Jones 38-36 on Monday! The 7A team beat the Danny Jones team by 2 in the championship game. The 7B team and the 7C team finished 3rd in district. The 8A team finished 4th in district and the 8B team finished 4th.
The young ladies of SHADES had a successful fundraiser where they collected $900 to help purchase much needed supplies for the residents of one of our local nursing facilities. SHADES is one of Howard's mentoring programs dedicated to helping young ladies become leaders and advocates for their future.
TA Howard Mentee Draft
The First Annual TA Howard Mentee Draft was held on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 to a wide audience of willing and able teachers eagerly seeking young minds to shape and guide as a mentor.
At TA Howard, our teachers are mentors each and every day to classrooms of students. The goal of the Mentee Draft was to allow teachers to actively seek student mentees that they ordinarily would not see in the classroom.
Mrs. Kiesha Edwards, a Teacher and participant in the 2016 Mentee Draft, stated, "This was an amazing experience. My mentee listed fashion and makeup as things that she enjoyed and that instantly made a connection with me."
Teachers will interact with their Mentees throughout the school year offering encouragement and motivation to keep moving forward as well as offering academic support as needed.
TA Howard Mentoring efforts will not end here. Our 40 S.E.A.M.S. program will be starting soon. 40 S.E.A.M.S. is a mentoring program designed to inspire young men to improve their academic success and redirect non-productive behavior.
