2016-2017 TA Howard Cheerleading Squad
Cheer Sponsors: Mrs. C. Adams and Mrs. C. Thomas
Howard Cheerleading Expectations
Cheerleading is a big time commitment. There will be mandatory summer practices. During the school year the girls will be cheering at least 1 game per week and practicing 1 day per week. There will be mandatory meetings, uniform fittings, and optional squad bonding events. This is not only a commitment for you, but your parents as well.
Cheerleading costs money. You will incur expenses for uniforms, camp, and any other activities that the squad participates in.
Cheerleading is a sport. You must be in good physical condition in order to minimize injuries and maximize squad potential. You will be expected to run, jump, tumble, stunt, dance, cheer, and yell at all practices. Practice is not what makes you perfect, perfect practice makes perfect. Dedication and perseverance is expected at all practices and events.
Cheerleading is mentally challenging. You must maintain eligibility according to UIL Standards. You will be responsible for memorizing 150 + cheers and chants, dances, routines, and stunt sequences. You will have to maintain poise in stressful situations and maintain open, positive lines of communication with peers and coaches.
Cheerleading is fun. You will participate in team building activities, sleep overs, and movie nights. These activities will help you develop lasting relationships with your squad. We will host dances for the TA Howard student body, support Howard Athletics, and foster positive school spirit. Being part of this squad is being part of a family and we look forward to welcoming you to the Howard Cheer Family.
