A NOTE FROM THE COUNSELORS:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We would like to take a moment to introduce ourselves to you and your family. Our names are Mrs. Chism and Mr. Gilmore and we are the new School Counselors at T. A. Howard Middle School for the 2018-2019 school year. We are excited and honored to be joining this amazing team of educators and staff. We look forward to meeting you and your student(s) and to helping your student(s) succeed to meet their own personal goals for this school year and beyond.
The Counseling office at T.A. Howard Middle School is here to help your child make a smooth transition between the dependence of the elementary/intermediate school years and the independence of the middle and high school years. The school counseling program at T. A. Howard Middle School is geared toward meeting the social, emotional, and academic needs of all students.
The Middle School years could be very stressful for students and parents. Therefore, we strive to be a resource for information concerning academic, social and emotional needs for our students. Our developmental and preventative program focuses on helping students achieve academic and personal success through a variety of guidance activities. In an attempt to meet these needs, the counseling program offers many services for you and your child. Services include classroom guidance lessons which address broad developmental topics (self-esteem, social skills, problem-solving skills, career awareness, etc.). Individual counseling is available for students who have specific needs. Counseling referrals may be received from students, teachers, parents/ guardians, or peers. Another service that can be offered through the counseling department is small group counseling.
Should you ever have a need, please feel free to contact us.
We look forward to serving you and your child.
