Howard Honor Band is National Winner in Mark of Excellence Contest
TA Howard Middle School’s Honor Band received the top honor in The Foundation for Music Education’s 2017 contest. The Honor Band is a National Winner representing the top 25-percent of outstanding bands from across the country. In the past 10 years, Director of Bands Nathaniel Neugent has received National Winner eight times and has been commended twice.
In the foundation’s Class AAAAA division, Summit High School’s Wind Symphony was one of seven symphonic bands chosen for the national honor along with Mansfield’s Lake Ridge High School Wind Symphony.
Mansfield Timberview High school received Commended Winner representing the second 25-percent of all bands.
The Mark of Excellence project recognizes and awards outstanding achievement in performance by high school and middle school bands, choirs and orchestras from across the country. The top 25% of entrants are recognized as National Winners, with the second 25% named as Commended Winners.
The Foundation for Music Education is dedicated to the support and advancement of music education through scholarships and other worthwhile projects.
